MN50501: THE ORGANIZERS
Something is deeply broken in our nation. Donald Trump and his Republican administration is attacking the constitution daily. The legislative and judicial branches are being weakened constantly, sliding us into dictatorship. Rights are no longer guaranteed, as the right to choose, marry, and even free speech are being limited by emboldened regressive officials. Masked government agents are kidnapping people off the streets, imprisoning and removing them from the country with no due process. And all the while, billionaires continue to see record-breaking profits at the expense of our labor, while the working class is left to contend with rising costs and stagnant wages.
Minnesota 50501 is a grassroots, non-partisan organization dedicated to resisting Donald Trump’s vision for America. We believe our country should work for all Americans, regardless of race, creed, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ability.
We recognize that building a better America must start with building a better Minnesota. Minnesota must be the true North Star state – a guiding light for others to follow. This is why we center ourselves around these three values.
Community
We believe that the best antidote to the tyranny of the 1% is a strong community. By building and strengthening our local communities, we connect Minnesotans, creating a higher-trust society, as well as opportunities for mutual aid and information networks. We foster our local communities through our Community Aid Team, as well as community building rallies and events.
Equity
Any gains made by the Anti-Trump resistance must be equitable. We are not free unless we are all free. This means rejecting tactics that only benefit certain groups, while leaving others behind, and making demands that better the lives of all.
Justice
A major contributing factor to the rise of fascism in our country is the lack of justice and accountability. We must demand that this time, when the current administration ends, that justice is at the forefront of the minds of those who take power. This means accountability for those currently breaking the constitution in the name of Donald Trump, administration officials and ICE agents alike. It also means justice for the communities most affected by these bad actors. We cannot heal unless true justice is felt and seen. Justice also means advocating for a more fair society, and a dedication to correcting previous injustices to marginalized communities across Minnesota and the United States.
